PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an independent wheel suspension of a rear wheel of an automobile comprising a wheel supporting device connected to a transverse lower arm and at least one transverse upper arm while the transverse lower arm is connected to a body of the automobile and the wheel supporting device by two arm bearings formed on substantially horizontal rocking shafts, and a connection arm of the wheel supporting device is coupled with a separate arm, and further comprising a suspension spring supported by the automobile body and the wheel supporting device, and an expansion type shock absorber which is substantially vertically adjusted. SOLUTION: To make a wheel suspension 10 favorable in the aspect of the manufacture and the elastic motion, a separate arm 20 on the lower arm level is obliquely arranged from a substantially outer side to the forwardly inner side in plan view, and the intersection S between an extension of the separate arm 20 and an extension of bearing points 18b, 18d backward of the lower arm 18 is located backward of the extension of the axis M of the wheel.
