PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illumination system capable of implementing illumination by compensating drop of LED emission output over a long term. SOLUTION: This illumination system is characterized by comprising: a board (32); a plurality of light source devices (24, 26, 28 and 30) arranged on the board and structured so as to emit light; an optically-transparent area (36) between the light sources and the board; a reflecting layer (38) on the optically-transparent area for internally reflecting some of light emitted from the light source devices in the optically-transparent area; and an optical sensor (42) arranged in the optically-transparent area and receiving some of light in the optically-transparent area to measure an optical characteristic of the light from the light source devices.
