PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a character recognition system capable of performing efficient correction. SOLUTION: The character recognition system is provided with a document format file 110 for assigning a regulation number in each field when a document is provided with a field for entering credit judgment information and a field for entering incidental information and a recognized result file 130 for storing recognized result data obtained by character recognition according to the regulation number; where first recognition for recognizing characters written in the field specified by the regulation number, e.g. essential character information to be used for a credit, is performed, and when the recognized result data passes the credit judgment, second recognition for recognizing characters written in the other field specified by the regulation number, e.g. incidental information such as a company's address, is performed.
