The invention relates to an airbag retainer system (1) with an airbag (3), a gas generator (2) and an airbag limiter device, limiting the maximum unfurling extent of the airbag (3), dependent on parameters relevant to passenger occupancy and permits a reliable unfurling of the airbag (3), whereby a storage device is provided for the retainer strap limiting the unfurling path of the airbag (3) and the same is provided outside the airbag (3).
