<p>This invention provides a Co oxide polycrystal, which comprises a polycrystal of a Co oxide having a mismatching crystal structure, causes slip deformation on (001) plane of the polycrystal, and has undergone crystal rotation in a given direction. Further, a Co oxide polycrystal subjected to crystal rotation in a given direction can be produced by compressing a polycrystal of Co oxide having a mismatching crystal structure at 800 to 930ºC and at a strain rate of 1.0 × 10<SUP>-5</SUP> to 1.0 × 10<SUP>-3</SUP> s<SUP>-1</SUP> to cause slip deformation. According to the above constitution, the crystal orientation of ceramics can be controlled, and ceramics, which have been subjected to crystal orientation control and have anisotropic electric resistance and can be utilized as thermoelectric conversion ceramics, can be provided.</p> |
