PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for continuously producing polyester by reusing a glycol generated in the production process of the polyester, capable of producing a high quality polyester economically and stably by controlling an esterification reaction by a simple method. SOLUTION: This method for producing the polyester by feeding slurry consisting of a dicarboxylic acid and the glycol into an esterification vessel continuously, producing the polyester by a direct esterification method, and circulating and reusing the residual material obtained by fractionating a distillate distilled off in the esterification process and removing a low boiling fraction consisting mainly of water, as a part or the whole of the raw material glycol is provided by controlling the water content of the slurry within±1 mass% of a set value.
