PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an isoprenoid derivative, further particularly, a method for condensing a hydroquinone derivative with a prenyl alcohol in the presence of a sulfolane and a Lewis acid and then oxidizing the condensed material. SOLUTION: In the production of the isoprenoid derivative, the hydroquinone derivative is condensed with the prenyl alcohol in the presence of sulfolane and the Lewis acid and then, the condensed material is oxidized. As a result, the isoprenoid derivative can be synthesized in extremely high yield. A coenzyme Q used as a medicine, etc., can inexpensively and efficiently be produced by using the method of the present invention. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
