PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method with which an individual can simply and rapidly be identified by selecting SNP (single nucleotide polymorphism) advantageous to the identification of the individual. SOLUTION: The following SNPs are selected and used for identifying and examining the individual. (i) 0.5≤X≤0.7 when allele frequencies are X and Y; X+Y=1 and Y≤X in the SNP of a 2 base substitution type, (ii) 1/3≤X; (1-X)/2≤Y and X+Y<1 and (a) Y≤1/2×X and X<2/3 or (b) 1/2×X<Y and XY<2/9 when the allele frequencies are X, Y and Z; X+Y+Z=1 and Z≤Y≤X in the SNP of a 3 base substitution type and (iii) 1/4≤X; (1-X)/3≤Y and X+Y<1 and (a) Y≤1/2×X and X<2/3 or (b) 1/2×X<Y and XY<2/9 when the allele frequencies are X, Y, Z and W; X+Y+Z+W=1 and W≤Z≤Y≤X in the SNP of a 4 base substitution type.
