CONTACT LENS CARE SOLUTION

A contact lens care solution in the form of a multipurpose solution or a hydrogen peroxide neutralizing solution contains viscoelastic polysaccharide in a proportion of between 0.01 % and 2.0 % w/v of the solution, with a molecular weight of 0.1 (MDa-Megadalton) to 3.5MDa and a (polydispersity index) PDI of <3. This allows the physico-chemical properties of viscoelastic polysaccharides, such as hyaluronan, to be fully exploited and makes them ideal candidates as comfort agents in the formulation of contact lens care solutions.
