PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dispersion compensating fiber whose wavelength dispersion is≥+30 ps/nm×km in a band of a wavelength of 1,310 nm. SOLUTION: The dispersion compensating fiber has a core portion 1, a clad portion 2 covering the core portion 1, and six pore portions 3 formed at a specified distanceΛ<SB>1</SB>from the center C<SB>1</SB>of the core portion 1 at equal intervals, and is characterized in that the standardized pore positionΛ/a obtained by standardizing the specified distanceΛ<SB>1</SB>by the core radius (a) of the core portion 1, the standardized pore diameter d/2a obtained by standardizing the pore diameter (d) of the pore portion 3 by the core diameter 2a of the core portion 1, and the core diameter (a) and the specific refractive index differenceΔof the core portion 1 from the clad portion 2 are within specified ranges and the wavelength dispersion is≥+30 ps/nm×km in the band of a wavelength of 1,310 nm.
