PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrooptical device capable of maintaining high display quality by suppressing crosstalk by devising an insulating film which is a component of the electrooptical device. SOLUTION: The electrooptical device has a plurality of switching elements 21 formed on a substrate 7a, data lines 19 formed on the substrate 7a, an insulating film 22 which is formed on the switching elements 21 and data lines 19 and has through holes 27 inside, pixel electrodes 24 which are formed on the insulating film 22 and connected to the switching elements 21 through the through holes 27, a liquid crystal layer 12 formed on the pixel electrodes 24, and recessed portions 41 which are formed in the insulating film 22 between other pixel electrodes 24 adjacent to the pixel electrodes 24 connected to the data lines 19 and the data lines 19. Liquid crystal 12 is put in the recessed portions 41 and the dielectric constantεof the insulating film 22 and the dielectric constantε2 of the liquid crystal 12 are so set thatε1>ε2.
