PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pressure cooker with enhanced safety by preventing a lid body from being half-locked when the operation of the cooker is started or within a prescribed period of time after the start of the operation. SOLUTION: The pressure cooker 1 comprises a container 7 into which an object to be cooked is loaded, a cooker body 2 with an opened part in which the container 7 is stored and a heating means 5 for heating the cooked object, the lid body 10 pivotally supported to one side of the cooker body to cover the opened part, and a control device 31. The cooker body 2 and the lid body 10 are engaged with each other by an engaging mechanism 20. The engaging mechanism 20 comprises an engaging member 22 to be engaged with an engaging part 4c of either the cooker body 2 or lid body 10, and a locking means 20b for locking the engaging member 22. The locking means 20b comprises a locking member 26 and a locking control means 27. Movement of the engaging member 22 is restrained by making the locking member 26 abut to the engaging member 22 when the operation of the cooker 1 is started or within the prescribed period of time after the start of the operation.
