A pneumatic tire (100) has a crown-reinforcing (C-R) insert (160) which extends from under the tread (120) substantially, such as at least one-third (33%) of the sidewall height (H), into the sidewall (116) of the tire (100). Apexes (150) extend from the beads (122) substantially, such as at least one-third of the sidewall height (H), into the sidewall of the tire (100), thereby effecting a substantial, such as at least one third of the sidewall height (H), "overlap" between end portions of the crown-reinforcing (C-R) insert (160) and the apexes (150). Additionally, at least one belt (132) extends from under the tread (120) substantially into the sidewall (116), and the turn-ups of at least some of the plies (140) extend quite high, such as at least one third of the sidewall height, into the sidewall (116).
