A method and a device of compensating for a persistence in a display panel, and a display apparatus including the device are provided to remove color edge and persistence generated at front and rear surfaces of a moving object by compensating for persistence generated due to different time responses of phosphors. A motion estimation module(310) estimates a first motion vector from a previous frame and a current frame and estimates a second motion vector from the current frame and a next frame to provide the first and second motion vectors. A motion vector direction inspection module(320) provides a direction component of the first motion vector using the first motion vector as an input. A persistence compensating module(330) receives the direction component from the motion vector direction inspection module, and adjusts a video data value of the current frame using the first and second motion vectors as an input to compensate for a persistence.
