UNSATURATED FATTY ACID SYNTHASE GENE ORIGINATING IN MARCHANTIALES PLANT AND UTILIZATION OF THE SAME

From a single species of Marchantiales, a Delta5 fatty acid desaturase gene, a Delta6 fatty acid desaturase gene and a Delta6 fatty acid elongase gene are isolated. By transferring these genes into a higher plant, a transformant plant capable of producing arachidonic acid or eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) can be obtained. ® KIPO & WIPO 2007
