LOW LOSS OPTICAL FIBER AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREOF

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber manufacturing method for manufacturing a low loss optical fiber inexpensively.

SOLUTION: This invention discloses the optical fiber manufacturing method comprising: a step for preparing an optical fiber preform; a step for heating up to temperature which softens the preform; and a step for drawing the optical fiber from the preform, and the preform includes at least: an inside core area of which delta is larger than 0.001; an outside core area of which delta is between -0.001 and 0.005; and a first clad area of which delta is smaller than -0.001, and further, the inside core area and the outside core area are formed using the VAD method or the OVD method.
