PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving operation assisting device for a vehicle performing a vehicle control, by taking into consideration of an overlap degree of own vehicle's estimated course with an obstacle in front and driver's intention of passing the obstacle. SOLUTION: In the driving operation assisting device for a vehicle, the risk potential against the obstacle in front of the own vehicle is calculated. When there is a high risk for contact with the obstacle, a driving force generated in the own vehicle is reduced and operation reaction force is increased in operating an accelerator pedal. When it is determined that the driver of the own vehicle intends to pass the obstacle, a reduction amount of the driving force is decreased according to the overlap degree of own vehicle's estimated course with the obstacle, and the operation reaction force generated in the accelerator pedal is reduced. An accelerator pedal operation status is compared with a threshold value set depending on own vehicle speeds to determine the driver's intention of passing the obstacle. When the intention of passing is determined, an adjusting amount of the driving force and operation reaction force becomes larger as the own vehicle speed is higher. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
