PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lamp for improving imaging quality, and its driving method, a backlight assembly and a liquid crystal display device. SOLUTION: The lamp comprises a glass tube, first and second electrodes formed on the both-side interiors of the glass tube, and third and fourth electrodes formed on the both-side exteriors of the glass tube. To the first and second electrodes, first and second voltages are supplied which have voltage levels with different polarities. To the third and fourth electrodes, third and fourth voltages are supplied which have voltage levels with different polarities. Thus, a light is generated not only from the first and second electrodes of the lamp but also over ranges between the first and third electrodes and between the second and fourth electrodes, improving imaging quality while preventing a phenomenon of darkening at the edges of the lamp.
