PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide chopped carbon fiber causing no quality deterioration of titanium when compounded in combination with a titanium alloy that enables the lightweightness of engines such as of aircraft and rockets, and to provide a method for producing the chopped carbon fiber. SOLUTION: The chopped carbon fiber for titanium alloy compounds is characterized by that the main component carbon accounts for 98 mass% or higher of carbon fiber plus a sizing agent, wherein the carbon content is determined by organic elementary analysis.
