PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress grinding of a housing by a display panel, when the display panel is stored in the housing. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device 50 is equipped with a liquid crystal panel 10, comprising an active matrix substrate 1 and a counter substrate 2 which are arranged opposite each other and a liquid crystal layer 3 provided between both the substrates 1 and 2, and a backlight unit 20 which houses portions of at least the active matrix substrate 1 and counter substrate 2 of the liquid crystal panel 10 inside from the side of the active matrix substrate 1. A peripheral edge part C1 of the active matrix substrate 1, disposed on the bottom side of the backlight unit 20, is beveled, a protruding part 8 where a driver IC 7 is mounted is provided at an end part of the active matrix substrate 1, and at an end part of the liquid crystal panel 10, where the protruding part 8 is not provided, an end of the counter substrate 2 is arranged farther inside than an end of the active matrix substrate 1.
