PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wind instrument whose maintenance frequency can be reduced. SOLUTION: The wind instrument is formed by coupling various pipes (2, 6, 7, 8, and 10), piston valve mechanisms (3, 4, 5, and 9), and a mouthpiece 1 to one another and has a DLC film formed on at least a part of inner and outer surfaces and slide surfaces. Higher durability is attained by lapping the surface of the formed DLC film. That is, the DLC film is formed on the piston valve mechanisms (3, 4, 5, and 9) of which the durability of slide surfaces is the problem especially, to attain higher durability. Since the DLC film has a high sound transfer characteristic, an effect to improve the tone quality of the wind instrument is obtained by forming the DLC film on a part or the whole of inner and outer surfaces of the wind instrument. A feeling of using the wind instrument for a user can be improved by forming the DLC film on the surface of the mouthpiece 1. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
