PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform movement between measuring points quickly and safely when characteristic parameters of an internal combustion engine are measured in order at a plurality of measuring points. SOLUTION: In this method for measuring characteristic parameters of the internal combustion engine in order at the plurality of the measuring points, a small range including a present engine control condition is set when the measuring point is changed from a present measuring point A to a next measuring point B, relation between the engine control condition and a value of a characteristic parameter relating to an operation obstruction factor is estimated based on a measured value of the characteristic parameter relating to the operation obstruction factor under an engine control condition in the small range, an engine control condition under which it is estimated that the operation obstruction factor is not generated and which is closer to next measurement point B than the present engine control condition is set as a target engine control condition based on the relation, and the engine control condition is changed to the target engine control condition at least one time.
