The present invention relates to a process for preparing Erianin (Dihydro Combretastatin A-4), whererin 3,4,5-trimethoxy benzaldehyde is converted to phosphonium salt or phosphonate ester or the likes thereof, then reacted with isovanillin (3-hydroxyl-4-methoxyl benzaldehyde) having a protected hydroxy in the 3-position, followed by hydrogenation and deprotection.
