A light stand having a motion detect sensor is provided to improve a working environment and to reduce power consumption by controlling light which interrupts an illumination of a monitor when a computer is used. A light stand having a motion detect sensor includes a motion detect sensor(3), a switching unit(2), an illumination unit, and a control unit. The motion detect sensor(3) and the control unit to detect a movement of a user are mounted on a side of a stand. If the movement of the user is detected by the motion detect sensor(3), the motion detect sensor(3) and the control unit control the illumination unit. Power of the light stand is inputted by selecting at least one of DC, AC or USB powers. The switching unit(2) controls a power input, and has a mode select switch function which determines an operation of the motion detect sensor and the control unit.
