<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control a peripheral device by selecting optimum processing in connection with carrying out version updating of an OS (operating system) of an information processor and upgrading of firmware of the peripheral device. <P>SOLUTION: Version information of the OS of the information processor, version information of firmware of a printer to be controlled, and version information of a printer driver, are acquired (S1902, S1906, S1908).
