摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source not using mercury, and a liquid crystal display device using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The planar light source comprises a lower substrate; a cathode electrode formed on the lower substrate having at least two layers of which an upper layer contains at least one metal chosen from a group including silver (Ag), lead (Pb), niobium (Nb). molybdenum (Mo), copper (Cu), tantalum (Ta), bismuth (Bi), aluminum (Al), titanium (Ti) and molybdenum-tungsten alloy; carbon nano-tubes for emitter chip grown on the cathode electrode; and an upper substrate facing the lower substrate, containing phosphorescent material and a transparent electrode.
