PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure temporal continuity as long as possible as video recording contents (including audio) to be recorded on a disk. SOLUTION: A recorder comprises: an image data compression processing means capable of generating compressed image data for inputted image data; an audio data input means to which audio data are inputted; a data accumulation means for accumulating the compressed image data and the audio data; a recording means for recording, on a recording medium, the compressed image data and the audio data in accordance with a predetermined recording scheme; a capacity detecting means for detecting free capacity of the data accumulating means; and a control means which carries out audio-preferential accumulation control for preferentially accumulating the audio data in the data accumulating means so as to ensure time-sequential continuity of at least the audio data if recording on the recording medium is disabled and the free capacity of the data accumulating means detected by the capacity detecting means is equal with or less than predetermined capacity, ends the audio-preferential accumulation control and restarts recording on the recording medium if recording on the recording medium is enabled.
