PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an energy absorbing member for automobile occupant protection for improving protection performance for occupants. SOLUTION: This energy absorbing structure for the automobile occupant protection is provided in body structure members 4, 6 and 10 which constitute a part of the body, and includes hollow energy absorbing members 60 provided at automobile compartment sides of the body structure members, and a panel member 70 provided so as to cover an automobile compartment side face 62b of the energy absorbing member. This panel member includes at least one flame portion 74 formed so as to extend along the longitudinal direction of the energy absorbing member.
