A method for plaster production, including fluidising and drying of moist synthetic calcium sulphate dihydrate (1) by means of direct contacting with a heat-transfer gas (3), fluidising and calcining the surface-dried calcium sulphate dihydrate (9) so-obtained, by means of direct contacting with a heat-transfer gas (5) and removing fine particles by a dust recycle system to form a product substantially containing calcium sulphate hemihydrate; and finally fluidising and cooling said product (12) by means of direct contacting with a heat transfer gas (11) to avoid formation of anhydrite.
