The invention relates to a feeder for a measuring transducer for use in process automation technology which feeder supplies the measuring transducer with power and forwards current signals that are transmitted between the measuring transducer and a higher-order unit via a signal line. The invention is characterized in that the feeder (SG) for the measuring transducer is additionally provided with a microcontroller (µC) which is contacted to a modem via the signal line (L) and a signaling device (SE) which is controlled by the microcontroller (µC). The signaling device (SE) signals additional information which is supplied by the measuring transducer (MU) and is transmitted to the microcontroller (µC) via the signal line (L).
