<p>A number-of-arriving-waves estimating device for estimating the number of arriving waves by receiving arriving waves by means of an array antenna whereM antenna elements are lineally arrayed at regular element intervals. The number-of-arriving-waves estimating device comprises a correlation matrix creating section for crating a correlation matrix by removing the diagonal element from a predetermined row or column of an array covariance matrix, extracting a predetermined number of correlations from the (M-1) correlation defined by removing the diagonal element, extracting the predetermined number of correlations while sequentially shifting the element one by one, and arraying the correlations in a matrix, an estimating matrix creating section for creating an estimating matrix for estimating the number of arriving waves by using the correlation matrix, a QR decomposing section for QR-decomposing the estimating matrix, and a number-of-arriving-waves determining section for determining he number of arriving waves in consideration of the row elements of an upper triangular matrix factor obtained by the QR decomposition.</p> |
