<p>A detoxification method characterized by comprising converting at least one member selected from the group consisting of arsenic, antimony and selenium into a nontoxic compound formed in a food chain system by using this food chain system. The method of detoxifying a toxic compound as described above is characterized by comprising converting a toxic compound containing at least one element selected from the group consisting of arsenic, antimony and selenium into a nontoxic substance by using a food chain system containing an animal plankton in the larval stage.</p>
