A drum type washing machine having a steam function is provided to soak the laundry and improve the washing and wrinkle prevention performance by installing a controller for controlling the cool water injection. A drum type washing machine having a steam function comprises: a water supply assembly(12) installed at one side of a cabinet(2) to feed water with a tub(6) and a drum(8); a supply hose(30) mounted between the one side of the water supply assembly and an inlet of the drum as a passage for the cool water; a nozzle(40) free end of which faces the inlet of the drum, and connected to the end of the supply hose toward the drum; and a controller(50) connected to the water supply assembly and installed to intermittently inject the cool water for predetermined time in the tub and the drum through the supply hose and the nozzle. The controller directly supplies the cool water with the tub and the drum through the supply hose and the nozzle, before operating a steam function.
