A wireless communication terminal having a function for controlling the brightness of a screen and a method thereof are provided to automatically control the brightness of the screen according to each application function and operated condition of the application function, thereby efficiently using battery. A wireless communication terminal having a function for controlling brightness of a screen comprises the followings: an output unit(14); a storage(12); and a controller(15). According as an execution event for an arbitrary application function is generated, the controller(15) searches a screen brightness level, matched to the application function, from a screen brightness control table of the storage(12), and controls the output unit(14) so as to output a variety of information at the searched screen brightness level.
