PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information recording apparatus and an information recording method capable of recording broadcast contents by automatically classifying them into units smaller than a program unit, thereby enhancing user's handleability. SOLUTION: The information recording apparatus is provided with: receiving means 22-26, 35 for receiving the broadcast content including the program; acquisition means 35, 36 for acquiring program information from the received broadcast content; and control means 20, 35 for recording the received broadcast contents by classifying them into the unit smaller than the program unit based on the acquired program information.
