PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for collecting road information capable of collecting information on existence of bridge girders and tunnels as data showing the environment around a vehicle. SOLUTION: The apparatus collects the information on roads where the vehicle runs. The apparatus includes an illuminance sensor 11 that detects illuminance around the vehicle, and an environment collecting means for collecting the information on existence of tunnels or the information on existence of bridge girders based on a rate of change of the illuminance detected by the illuminance sensor 11.
