A display device is provided to clearly display a signal with low brightness by restricting excessive precharging operation by using a precharge stopping unit, which determines whether display data is at a specific state. Plural display elements(53-11~53-MN) have capacitive elements between first and second electrodes. Output drivers(62-1~62-N) supply a driving current or a driving voltage of a first pulse width corresponding to display data to the first electrodes, so that the respective display elements are selectively turned on. Plural scan switches(71-1~71-M) couple the second electrodes of the display elements, which are scanned correspondingly to the display data and turned on by the output drivers, to a fixed potential node. Precharge drivers(63-1~63-N) precharge the capacitive elements of the display elements by using the first electrodes before the display elements are turned on. A precharge stopping unit determines whether the display data is at a specific state, and stops the precharging operation of the precharge drivers, if the display data is at the specific state.
