PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent damages on the microlens surface, caused by the friction between the microlens array and a Fresnel lens and asperity losses on the Fresnel lens and reduce the outside front light reflected for image observation, and to reduce the scintillations (speckles) on a transmission-type screen. SOLUTION: The surface of the microlenses 1 is overcoated with a material 8, having a refractive index higher than the material of the microlenses 1. Alternatively, either the surface of the microlenses 1 or the surface of the Fresnel lens 5 is at least overcoated with a material, having a wear-resistance higher than the material of the microlenses 1 and the Fresnel lens 5.
