An electric field (18) is produced between a powdering nozzle (15) and material (10) to be printed. Powder which is to be directed onto the material, is ionized or electrically-charged near the nozzle, such that it is caused to move toward the material to be printed, by the electrical field. The field is non-uniform or uniform. The material is electrically charged, so that the electrical field is formed between it and an earthed powdering nozzle. Gravity assists transfer. An independent claim is included for corresponding equipment.
