Provided is a lithium secondary battery comprising a thermally degradable capsule containing reactive material which does not affect a working mechanism of the battery when the battery is at normal working condition, and polymerizes and solidifies an electrolyte and reduces dangers of firing/explosion of battery when the battery is at abnormal working condition of high temperature. The lithium secondary battery comprises an anode, cathode, and a separator. The battery comprises a thermally degradable capsule containing material(reactive material) capable of polymerizing or solidifying an electrolyte at high temperature that is an abnormal working condition of battery, in electrolyte and/or electrode of the battery. The reactive material is a monomer polymerized itself by effect of electrolyte, a crosslinking agent forming a three-dimensional solid structure by its reaction with electrolyte, or an initiator inducing a polymerization of the monomer or electrolyte. The reactive material is ethylene glycol di-vinyl ether. |
