A home automation system using an MoIP phone and a method thereof are provided to realize a function of an existing video phone and realize confirmation of a visitor through video, door, guardhouse, and lobby video communications, and anti-crime/anti-disaster and automatic door controls and so on by operating a video phone through the Ethernet as an extension phone of the home automation system, thereby compatibly using an additionally-purchased MoIP phone when a home using an existing home automation system additionally purchases the MoIP phone. A home automation system includes an extension phone. When a call signal of a home visitor is inputted into a main phone(100), the extension phone performs voice communication by outputting a video signal of the home visitor according to control of the main phone(100). When an Internet call request through the Internet is generated, the extension phone performs Internet image communication by automatically connecting the requested call. The extension phone is an MoIP(Multimedia over Internet Protocol) phone(200). |
