A screw type vacuum pump is provided to securely support a drive shaft and a driven shaft by using upper and lower bearings to prevent vibrations of a screw fixed to the drive and driven shafts. A screw type vacuum pump includes a housing(1), a vertical through-hole(2), a vertical pipe, drive and driven shafts(4,5), a pair of screws(7), and a drive device(9). The housing has a compression space(11) including an introduction port(12) and a discharge port(13). The vertical through-hole is formed at both sides of a lower plate(14) of the housing. The vertical pipe is fixed to pass a lower fixing device(31) through the both vertical through-holes to project into the compression space. The drive and driven shafts are rotatably installed through bearings(6) installed at upper and lower parts in the vertical pipe. The pair of screws is fixed through the upper fixing device at an upper part of the drive and driven shafts to surround an outer periphery of the vertical pipe. The drive device transmits power to the drive shaft to rotate the driven shaft.
