BACKLIGHT ASSEMBLY AND DISPLAY DEVICE HAVING THE SAME

A backlight assembly and a display device having the same are provided to independently drive plural backlight units, thereby saving the consumption power, by independently irradiating a main display part and a sub-display part with lights emitted from different backlight units. A first backlight unit(130) emits a light in a full driving mode, and is turned off in a standby mode. A second backlight unit(150) emits a light in the full driving mode and in the standby mode. A light blocking member(112) is disposed between the first backlight unit and the second backlight unit. The light blocking member prevents the light from flowing from the first backlight unit to the second backlight unit or from the second backlight unit to the first backlight unit.
