A data search method in a high-definition optical disc is provided to make an optical pickup quickly/accurately moved to a desired target position when performing a data search operation in the high-definition optical disc in which a track pitch and a sector length are differently formed. A microcomputer compares the target address value of a selected optical pickup with the second boundary address value stored in a memory member in response to the reception of a data search command(S310). If the target address value of the optical pickup is smaller than the second boundary address value, a process for discriminating whether the target address value is larger than the first boundary address value is performed(S320). If the target address value is larger than the first boundary address value, the microcomputer compares the current address value with the second boundary address value(S325). If the present address value is larger than or the same as that of the second boundary address value, the microcomputer determines movement distance of the optical pickup and moves the optical pickup(S330).
