A display device, an information processing system having the same, and a method for driving the same are provided to reduce the size of the information processing system by allocating a portion of host memory as a frame memory region. An information processing system includes a host(200) and a display device(100). The host generates an image signal. The display device compresses the image signal and recovers the compressed image signal to display the image signal. The host includes an image processor(210), an interface(230), and a memory(270). The image processor generates the image signal. The interface transmits the image signal to the display device and receives the compressed image signal from the display device. The memory stores the compressed image signal. The compressed image signal is transmitted to the display device through the interface.
