[Class 132 (ii).] In a golf club of the kind in which the head, Figs. 1 and 6, is rotatable about an extension 2 of the shaft 1 to vary the angle of loft, and is fixed in adjusted position by screw clamping-means, the head comprises a curved portion 4, that projects rearwardly from the upper edge of the striking- face 3 and is formed with an arcuate slot 14, the walls of which are engaged by the clamping-means. The clamping-means comprise a wedge-shaped member 17 pressed into engagement with the tapered walls of the arcuate slot by a screw 16 that enters an arm 13 projecting from the shaft extension. The curved portion of the head is formed of lighter material than the striking face and carries on its upper surface a chart 29 cooperating with an index 28 on the wedge-shaped member. The head is maintained against axial movement by a screw 19 secured by a grub-screw. Shafts.-The length of the shaft is rendered adjustable by forming the handle of a covered metal tube 25 telescopically mounted on an internal metal tube 22 secured to the shaft. The outer tube is secured in adjusted position by a screw 27 passing through a hole therein and entering one of a series of recesses situated in a longitudinal groove in the shaft.</p> |
