A method for an emotion message service is provided to enable a mobile terminal user to check an emotion of an opposite party through an avatar by representing a current emotion status of the user or affection for other persons through the avatar with transmission of a text message including the avatar expressing the emotion of the user or the message representing the affection for the avatar received from other users. A service providing server transmits a service connection program and a driver program to a connected mobile terminal, and generates/registers the avatar of a sender to an emotional avatar database. The server receives an emotion message transmission request from a sender, updates an expression status of the registered emotional avatar with the emotion selected from the sender by transmitting an available emotion list to the mobile terminal(S43). The server checks a receiver phone number included in a written emotion expression message and transmits the emotion expression message including the emotional avatar of the sender to the mobile terminal of a receiver(S47). The server adjusts/updates intimacy between the sender and the receiver to a friendship database.
