NEGATIVE SUSTAIN DRIVING METHOD FOR PLASMA DISPLAY PANEL

A method for driving a plasma display panel(PDP) is provided to effectively and reliably drive a long gap-type PDP by driving the PDP at -Vs, which is lower than a conventional current driving voltage. During a sustain period, a negative sustain voltage and a ground level voltage are alternately applied on respective scan electrodes(Y) and sustain electrodes(Z). The negative sustain voltage is applied on the sustain electrodes earlier than the ground voltage. The scan and sustain electrodes are apart from each other by a long gap, which is longer than a predetermined distance. Voltage signals of the same polarities are applied on the scan and sustain electrodes during a reset period. The voltage signals applied on the scan and sustain electrodes have positive polarity.
