TRANSMITTING SYSTEM AND DATA PROCESSING METHOD

A transmission system and a data processing method are provided to enable the second parity adding unit to add the second parity data to multiplexed service data, and enable a transmitting unit to modulate the service data added with the second parity data before transmitting the modulated service data, thereby being strong against errors when transmitting additional data through a channel, and improving compatibility with an existing receiver. A transmission system comprises the followings: the first parity adding unit for adding the first parity data to the first service data inputted through the first path; a multiplexing unit for multiplexing the first service data added with the first parity data, and for multiplexing the second service data inputted through the second path; the second parity adding unit for adding the second parity data to the service data multiplexed by the multiplexing unit; a transmitting unit for modulating the service data added with the second parity data and transmitting the modulated service data; and an interleaver performs interleaving with regard to the first and second service data.
