An apparatus for controlling a user interface of a mobile communication terminal and a method thereof are provided to enable a user to effectively recognize weather information by automatically changing entire user interface themes. A method for controlling a user interface of a mobile communication terminal comprises the following several steps. A controller maintains a standby state of the mobile communication terminal(200). The controller checks whether a user inputs a key for setting an automatic user interface change function in accordance with weather information(202). If so, the controller sets an automatic user interface change mode(204). If the user inputs data for setting up a bell sound, a background screen, a menu theme or a color in accordance with the weather information(206), the controller matches a user interface theme with each weather information and stores the matched data in a user interface theme table for each weather information(208).
